On March 28, a closing event of the educational project “Empowering Teachers for a Green Future: Renewable Energy and Environmental Education in Georgian Schools and Municipalities” was held.
The event was attended by representatives of the British Embassy, teachers, students, and other invited guests.
The British Ambassador, Gareth Ward, addressed the audience and spoke about the importance of renewable energy and the impact of the project.
Based on the knowledge gained at the seminars, with the support of their teachers, the students presented 8 impressive presentations on the topic of renewable energy. The three winning schools selected by the jury - Kutaisi Public School No. 24, Galaktion Tabidze City Rustavi Public School No. 5, and Kazbegi Municipality Stepantsminda Public School No. 1 - were awarded laptops.
The event continued with an even more special surprise: students from the Ikalto Public School gave a presentation, where they noted that their school is still heated by a wood-burning stove. They named the installation of solar panels on the school building as a way to solve this problem. At the end of the presentation, the Georgian Renewable Group company presented solar panels to the Ikalto Public School as a gift.
The project, which covered 10 regions of Georgia and aimed to raise awareness about renewable energy and environmental issues, was implemented with the support of the British Embassy.
